28th Australian and New Zealand Prevocational Medical Education Forum 2024

The Rural Generalist Coordination Unit (RGCU) participated in the 28th Australian and New Zealand Prevocational Medical Education Forum (ANZPMEF) 2024, held in Darwin from 11–14 November 2024.

The conference centred on the theme "Rising to the Challenge: Sustainability, Community, and Culture."

The event provided an invaluable opportunity for the RGCU to engage directly with interns, junior doctors, supervisors and medical educators. Through these interactions we strengthened connections with the next generation of medical professionals and gained valuable insights into their interests and challenges, particularly in the context of rural and remote medical practice.

The RGCU sponsored Dr. Ilias Kosmidis, a GP Registrar currently based at Danila Dilba Health Service. Dr. Kosmidis was born and raised in the NT and completed his medical training including his primary medical qualification in the region. He brought a wealth of knowledge to the booth, where he actively addressed inquiries from delegates and provided an authentic perspective on practicing medicine in the NT, further enriching the discussions.

The RGCU proudly supported the forum by sponsoring the coffee cart and supplying branded lanyards, enhancing the overall experience for attendees.
