The Barkly region services the Tennant Creek Township and provides outreach medical services to remote health centres across the region.
The region provides acute care, primary and public health care and mental health services.
Acute care is provided through the Tennant Creek Hospital which delivers a range of medical services including accident and emergency, gynaecology, paediatrics, orthopaedics, palliative care, radiology and dialysis.
Primary and public health care provides community allied health and aged care, oral health services, environmental health and public health, and remote health centres.
The Barkly region includes the Tennant Creek Township and extends from Elliott in the north, Alpurrurulum in the east and Tara in the south.
Tennant Creek Hospital provide Rural Generalist trainee placements for vocational trainees (ACRRM/RACGP) and 4 (2 PGY1 and 2 PGY2+) JFPDP funded prevocational rural trainee placements.
